MCFM Annual Meeting and Workshop
Tuesday, May 1, 2012
2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Wellesley Free Library
530 Washington Street
Wellesley, Massachusetts
MCFM's brief business meeting to elect directors and officers will be immediately followed by the Professional Development Workshop.
WORKSHOP TIME: Right after the Annual Meeting until 4 p.m.
WORKSHOP TOPIC: "Mediation Timing, Client Inertia and Intervention"
PRESENTERS: John A. Fiske, Esq., and Diane Neumann, Esq.
WHAT YOU'LL LEARN:
Diane Neumann and John A. Fiske will lead an interactive program exploring the many dilemmas for the mediator traceable to timing, readiness, inertia, and the different psychological stages of the couple.
For example, a client cancels appointments and does not seem interested in returning to mediation. Or what can the mediator do when clients start to stall as they get closer and closer to completing their agreement? What are useful responses when one spouse wants to meet next week and the other spouse is busy for two months?
What other indicators do you see influencing your own sense of timing? What works for you and what is a dead end? Bring your favorite dilemmas for discussion with experts.
ABOUT THE PRESENTERS:

He co-founded and served as president of the Massachusetts Council on Family Mediation, and he has been co-chair of the Boston Bar Association’s Family Law Section.
