Visitation

Where the children will live after a divorce and how they will be supported is an important issue in every divorce involving children. Parents generally want to have quality time with the children. This gives great benefit to the children and joy and satisfaction to the parents. Divorce doesn’t have to mean an end of a warm parental relationship. Child visitation mediation is an excellent process to address these conversations, whether the issue comes up at the outset of a divorce, or years after the divorce if situations have changed. Massachusetts child visitation statutes and case law can be openly discussed when a couple is determining their parenting plan.

An experienced divorce mediator can lead an open and thoughtful discussion of what kind of schedule for the children, in each of the parent’s homes, will work best for the children and for the parents. For more information, see Model Parenting Plans released by the Massachusetts Probate and Family Court Department.
